EZRA MANDATE

Ezra Mandate

“Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem. And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem. Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem. Ezra 1: 3-5

This is a challenge given by Cyrus king of Persia to the people of Israel concerning building the temple of the Lord. RCCG Dominion Cathedral is faced with the same challenge today. The challenge is to building a befitting auditorium for our God. Please spend few minutes on this page to understand the mandate God has given us.

The Mandate

RCCG Dominion Cathedral is one of the fastest growing parishes in North America. However, if we were to keep growing we needed a bigger auditorium. Several national researches have shown that churches’ growth plateau once they reach 80% of their auditorium capacity. We were currently 160% of our capacity which forced us to be having two services. This resulted in us sourcing and acquiring a bigger auditorium at 180 Main Street in Orange NJ in November 2005. We eventually moved into the building in April 2006. We realized that our children and teens ministries are hindered by space and have embarked on phase two of the Ezra Mandate which is the construction of an ultra modern department in what used to be the kitchen section of the building purchased.

This is why like in the days of Ezra, our mandate is to build a befitting auditorium for our God where we can worship Him freely in spirit and in truth.

Our Goal

Our goal was to acquire an auditorium that can seat at least 1,000 adults (and also equipped with facilities for children, teenagers and offices) in the Newark / Irvington / The Oranges general area. This goal has been partially achieved. The remaining part is to complete the Children’s section of the Church by August 2009.

Anticipated Cost of Project

The anticipated cost of this project is 2 Million dollars. Our goal is to raise 1 million dollars towards this closing of the building. Our Bankers (Wachovia Bank) gave us a loan of 1.1 Million towards this project. We are still indebted to Wachovia to the tune of about $900,000.

The Second Phase is the Children’s Church billed to cost $600,000. Construction began already.

We are trusting God to finish this project without any bank loan. We solicit your financial partnership for the completion of this project, and our God will reward you abundantly.
